Classically Bermuda
Tea and scones on the porch at three. Bermuda socks and shorts for dinner. 22 miles of British ethos and island bliss. The picture perfect palm trees, pink sand and crystal clear aqua waters of this little island are all the makings of paradise. Only a 90 minute flight from New York City, it is the perfect summer escape.
Bermuda is classically British and Caribbean all at the same time. It is a glamorous little island off the coast of the Carolina's that has been host to the who's who of society for decades. But now, with preparations for The America's Cup in 2017, this precious little island is seeing an influx of sailors, revelers and rum swizzle drinkers alike.
What makes Bermuda special though, it that is a little bastion of the civilized past. Golf, tennis, sailing, beaches and mopeds; it is an island almost trapped in time. I spent Labor Day Weekend in Bermuda and opted for classic silhouettes - a fantastic one piece by Huit and a fabulous hat by my milliner of choice, Eugenia Kim. The look and feel of a bygone era remain in this special place and I was delighted to dress in my favorite style of dramatic headpieces and bold shapes. What a way to close out summer!
